Oliver – Legendary 1

Here is a man I admired at first for his silky and signature dance style and then admiring him more after I got to know him. I first met Oliver in 1981 at an after-hours club here in Philly that was called Catacombs. We religously went there almost every Friday and Saturday night to hear and dance to the latest dance music spun by resident DJ David Todd. We would always run into each other in New York at the Paradise Garage and in DC at the Club House for, "Children’s Hour." Oliver also had his own spot in Philly for a bit and if I remember correctly he made clothes and these nice looking leather caps. You could never mistake him for anyone else on the dance-floor. He’s tall and wiry and smiles a big smile as he grinds down into floor as if he has no bones, elbows and arms flying everywhere in time with the music. I truly consider him one of the "legendary children!" I have known him for about 27 years but I had not seen him in the last ten to fifteen years. I was so shocked when I turned and looked up while dancing to see him getting ready to do his thing at the Bubble House. He was a hit with all the twenty-somethings this night because they could not believe his smoothness and agility. He appears to move as he did when I first met him in 81′. He was truly a star that night! Thank God I decided to bring the camera this time. Oliver, it was great tapping toes with you again!
